You can tell a lot about a person by asking them why they think the Islamic world hates America.
The response is usually just a projection of that person's OWN personal grievances with the United States.
Instead of answering the question, they tell you why THEY hate America.
The anti-semite will claim the Islamists hate us "because of our support for Israel".
The socialist (a.k.a. "progressive" or "Democrat") will claim it's because of the "imbalance of wealth and power" which leaves the young men of the Middle East feeling inadequate and angry.
The deranged, self-loathing imbecile (a.k.a. "Ron Paul supporter") will say they don't really hate us, it was the CIA that attacked us on 9-11.
Meanwhile, Muslims the world over call for the slow, painful dismemberment of an elementary school teacher just because she named a teddy bear "Muhammed".
Meanwhile, a Muslim man in Dearborn slices his daughter's throat while her mother holds her down. Her offense? She took a job at McDonald's and started dating a boy.
Those of us living in reality don't waste time staring at our navels.
Should a battered woman stare at her swollen eye in the mirror and curse herself for making her husband angry?
Should a rape victim tell herself it was her own fault for wearing tight clothes?
In prison, when you learn that another inmate has it out for you, what's the best course of action?
Introspection?
Dialogue?
Sensitivity training to avoid offending that guy in the future?
Or do you shank him first while he's standing at the urinal, before he can shank you?

I agree mostly with what you are saying. the one thing i think i want to nit pick is your lovely sweeping generalization of demacrats: "The socialist (a.k.a. "progressive" or "Democrat")" I would consider myself more of a demacrat and a progessive then most people who live in the area. but to assume that i am a socialist is just mean. I think socialism will destroy humanity first and then since humanity is gone there will be no need for society. socialism is a greater "danger" then guns, pot, or drunk driving.

Please, Thomas, please do tell why in the world why socialism is the greatest danger facing mankind and exactly how it would destroy humanity? I'm curious as to what your logic is in this somewhat short-sighted mindset.

Read Atlas Shrugged, it will give you a clue, oh yeah and read animal farm, 1984, and if you don't think philosophers are correct then look at all the socialist governments that have happened in history, USSR, china, north Korea. and before your hippie stick gets shocked at my statement, socialism according to Marx is the step to Communism. Final Note: socialism is not just a style of govening, it is a mindset that all people must be helped and no one is able to handle life as it is, it is coddling.
