First off, I do agree that spraying bullets into a crowd just before suicide is one of the most cowardice actions to take,

The things I wanted to nitpick were:

You said all of these bastards are godless and maybe that has something to do with their willingness to randomly murder. I think their willingness has more to do with the media going out of control with needless coverage on previous incidents rather than their lack of religion.

Look at how many suicide bombers in the middle east randomly kill in the name of god. Look at how many people Hitler had exterminated in the name of religion.

The media helps glorify these kinds of people by needlessly showing 24 hour coverage of their lives, musical tastes, video game tastes, clothing tastes, etc right down to the weapons they used and what bullet manufacturer. Is it necessary to know this? Is it necessary to tell everyone in American how much Dylan Klebold liked KMFDM?.

You said earlier that no one had called or written to refute your statements because they must be true. You never give anyone enough time to get a statement out that holds an honest argument to your statements. It's always a quick hangup or praise to the random drooling republicans of west michigan that kiss your ass. Any man with a microphone can tell you what he loves the most.

Yes, the majority of your statements are true, Guns didn't kill those people. They were quick and handy tools to get the job done.

Agnostics aren't necessarily godless, they are just unsure. Persecuting someone who isn't sure whether or not they can devote their faith to any specific religion seems pretty narrow minded.

I will always applaud you for saying what you believe, for exercising  your rights as an American. I just wish you could do it with a little less sarcasm. You have a tendency to come off sounding like West Michigan's very own Ann Coulter.

A-hole

Scott,

Thanks for taking the time to write.

I personally am "godless" myself.  That's what I find most frustrating about discussing these issues with people who want to label me.  I was not hypothesizing that their lack of religion caused them to kill, I was only asking why the media hasn't seen a pattern and asked the question.  They certainly would have looked into the religion angle had the killer professed to be a Christian.
Do you understand my point?

Next: Hitler killed in the name of some religion?  Can you educate me as to which one please?  If you believe it's Christianity, then you need to read up a little more on the subject. Hitler, if anything, believed in Norse mythology and a sort of nationalistic paganism.

I agree with you that the media seems to grant fame to those willing to die for it, which is why I always call out these pieces of scum for what they are. And rarely will you ever hear me speak their actual names on the air.

I'm sorry if you choose to believe otherwise, but most people that call to disagree with me do so only to yell incoherently, or name-call.  I'm sure there are plenty of intelligent liberals out there, but I fear they're so afraid of hearing opinions that challenge their dogma that they probably tune me out. By all means feel free to call 770-WGRD any time.

As for your style advice, I'm not crafting a "persona" on the air.  I'm literally being myself.  So if I sound sarcastic to you, so be it.  I'm a sarcastic person.

Finally, I'd like to thank you for helping to make my show one of the highest-rated in Grand Rapids.  I literally can't do my job without you.

Take care,

Spud

Re: More Listener Mail

Hey Spud,
Hitler read a book written by Martin Luther, the father of the protesant religion, called "Of Jews and Their Lies".

Here's some proof from Wikipedia.
On the Jews and Their Lies (German: Von den Jüden und iren Lügen; in modern spelling Von den Juden und ihren Lügen) is a 65,000-word treatise written by German Reformation leader Martin Luther in 1543.

In the treatise, Luther wrote that the Jews are a "base, whoring people, that is, no people of God, and their boast of lineage, circumcision, and law must be accounted as filth."[1] They are full of the "devil's feces ... which they wallow in like swine,"[2] and the synagogue is an "incorrigible whore and an evil slut ..."[3] He argues that their synagogues and schools should be set on fire, their prayer books destroyed, rabbis forbidden to preach, homes razed, and property and money confiscated. They should be shown no mercy or kindness,[4] afforded no legal protection,[5] and these "poisonous envenomed worms" should be drafted into forced labor or expelled for all time.[6] He also seems to advocate their murder, writing "[w]e are at fault in not slaying them."[7]

The prevailing scholarly view[8] since the Second World War is that the treatise exercised a major and persistent influence on Germany's attitude toward its Jewish citizens in the centuries between the Reformation and the Holocaust. Four hundred years after it was written, the National Socialists displayed On the Jews and Their Lies during Nuremberg rallies, and the city of Nuremberg presented a first edition to Julius Streicher, editor of the Nazi newspaper Der Stürmer, the newspaper describing it as the most radically antisemitic tract ever published.

Love your show.

Re: More Listener Mail

Jason, I'm sorry your stupid. "Hitler read a book by Martin Luther." Oh, so becuase he once read a book by Martin Luther, he must have been a fundementalist Christian. Seriously, if you have ever read anything out of the Koran, are you a Muslum? Also, try looking for evidance somewhere other than Wikipedia. Anyone can write anything that they want there.
