Spud,
I agree that all rational people should have the option to have guns. Now if you can guarantee that there are only rational people in the world then guns should not be prohibited. But since you can make that claim there should be limits and controls. I think that we should stop complaining about how the gun owner is oppressed and work on the real problem of the people that have the guns that kill people. Then there won't be any "namby pamby news writers" denouncing guns. If there is no one killing people with guns then guns wont be a problem, but since guns are killing people then they are a problem.

Thomas,
Thanks for your calm and well thought-out response to my on-air comments today.
Now I'll tell you why you're exactly wrong on this issue.
Many, many, MANY things kill people everyday in far greater numbers than Constitutionally protected fire-arms do, and yet you don't see them as a "problem". Why not?
Ovens, automobiles, knives, neckties, rope, gasoline, abandoned refrigerators, prescription pain killers, machetes, baseball bats. . . you know I could go on for days listing them here.
So the Thomas Verstraete plan is to ban all dangerous things? Would you start with cars? Good luck.
Humans are killing other humans all over the world, and they always will Thomas.
Quit obsessing about one minor method.
In fact, if you don't like guns, don't buy one. But trying to take mine away because you think they're "dangerous" is the very definition of un-American. It's a betrayal of the very principles that founded this great nation.
Thanks for listening,
Spud

Re: Guns are "dangerous". Let's ban them!
Thomas, do you really think someone willing to commit murder or robbery really cares how they obtain a weapon? All the bans and laws in the world aren't going to stop criminals from committing acts of violence. Do DUI laws stop repeat offenders from drinking and driving? Wanna take a stab at how many people are killed or injured by drunk drivers every year?

Re: Guns are "dangerous". Let's ban them!
The reason there are repeat DUI offenders is because they are taking away the wrong thing. They should take away the privelage of drinking. "well yes but they can get it from friends" well if they get it from friends then they are either drinking at home so they don't need to drive or drinking at friends homes. and if they drive home take away their licence, then their credit cards, then their what ever. if you are that stupid to do that kind of stuff you are too stupid to be treated like an adult. See what i did, I reasoned out a possible solution to the problem. that is what is called rational thought. I know that most people don't understand what that is because they are too busy saying what other people have said. I don't know like reading off the republican party doctrine. everyone should try thinking for themselves sometime.
